In some cases, the jaw bone might not be strong enough in the area for immediate implant placement. The dentist will recommend an augmentation procedure using a bone graft.
Sinus Lifting
A sinus lift is a surgical procedure which some people need before having implants placed in their upper jaw. It involves placing a bone graft between your upper jaw and the membrane of the sinuses that are closest to your back teeth (also known as molars). The sinus lift will then naturally fuse with your jaw, allowing an implant to be placed.

This will give your implants the very best chance of your implants lasting as long as possible and avoiding having to replace the implants and further delaying treatment. Bone grafting is a surgical procedure that uses transplanted bone to repair and rebuild diseased or damaged bones. A bone graft is a choice for repairing bones almost anywhere in your body. Your surgeon might take bone from your hips, legs, or ribs to perform the graft. Sometimes, surgeons also use bone tissue donated from cadavers to perform bone grafting.

If probably maintained and cared for, Teeth In A Day should last you for the rest of your life. They are able to achieve this longevity by creating implants that mimic the structure of a real tooth, using durable materials to create the implant and by setting the base of the implant into the jaw bone for secure fastening.
One of the most common questions patients have is “What are the dangers of one-day implants?” Well, the good news is that there are very few. This procedure is considered to be extremely safe. But, one of the primary risks to any dental implant is that there must always be an integration period between the implant and the surrounding bone. During the healing process, and for some time afterward, the jaw bone will produce new cells that will secure the implant in place. This can, in typical cases, take up to six months. Your diet may need to be altered to slightly more soft foods to decrease the likelihood of moving the implants out of place and having them set improperly.
It is also important to keep in mind that, at the end of the day, any dental implant procedure is considered to be surgery, which means you always have a small risk of infection, nerve damage or injury to the surrounding structures. In some rare cases, sinus problems have also developed when implants in the upper jaw break through into the sinus cavity.
On the day of your procedure, your surgeon will remove the teeth (when necessary) that will be replaced by the Teeth In A Day dental implants. Then, incisions will be made into the gum, and the implant will be placed into the upper or lower jaw bone. Temporary but still aesthetically pleasing and similar prosthetic teeth are fastened to the implant for about three months. After this time, a new set will be made with any adjustments necessary for a perfectly harmonious dental aesthetic.
It can take up to six months for your Teeth In A Day implants to go through osseointegration, a process that allows the implant to bind to the underlying bone. However, this is a general estimate, and many patients find their implants have settled as early as three months after their procedure.
While you may need to stick to slightly softer foods, some patients can eat without pain or discomfort the same day of the surgery. If you experience any pain or discomfort, we will provide you with over-the-counter or prescription medication to help mitigate those symptoms.
