Veneers

A dental veneer is a thin layer of porcelain (or occasionally natural colour composite material) custom-made to fit over the front surface of a tooth.

Veneers can improve the colour, shape and (to a small extent) the position of your teeth. A precise shade of porcelain can be chosen to give the right colour to improve a single discoloured tooth or to lighten multiple front teeth. A veneer also makes a chipped tooth look whole again.

Veneers can also be used to close small gaps when orthodontic treatment is not suitable. If one tooth is slightly out of position, a veneer can sometimes be fitted to bring it in line with the others.

Veneers make teeth look natural and healthy. Because they are very thin and are held in place with a special adhesive very little preparation of the tooth is necessary; in fact, some types of veneer, like feldspathic ones, require no preparation at all.
Feldspathic veneers are a type of dental veneer that are made of a glass-like ceramic, called feldspar. They are created by painting extremely thin layers of porcelain (0.2mm) which is then processed in a furnace to form a durable and highly translucent material.

This process is a master craft method that few dentist/technician teams are able to use as the method employs a complex and laborious hand stacking technique.

Feldspathic veneers are considered to be the state-of-the-art technique when it comes to improving aesthetics. They can provide a very natural result that is close to the structure of the covered tooth, and they don’t require preparation and so preserve patient’s tooth structure.
